The opening ceremony of the 7^th round of the national and the first round of the international CanSat competitions was held in Ivanaki Airport of Semnan in the presence of 17 teams.

According to the public relations and information center of the Vice-Presidency for science and technology affairs, the opening ceremony of the 7^th round of the national and the first round of the international CanSat competitions was held in Ivanaki Airport of Semnan in the presence of 17 teams with the support of the national space and advanced transportation administration with the goal of supplying the workforce of aerospace industry of the country.

These competitions will be held for students of the aerospace field and relevant areas, such as mechanics, electronics and control, so that creative and innovative students could enter the circle of aerospace technology.

CanSat is a type of student satellite that has all real characteristics of a satellite and is designed and created by the youth and students.

This year, 74 teams participated in the competition. However, 17 teams entered the final stage after two rounds of evaluation.

Fathollah Omi, head of the aerospace research center, expressed about the form of teams participating in the event: from 74 teams participating in this round of the competition, 68 teams were from Iran, three teams were from Peru, one team was from Turkey, and one team was from Lebanon.

According to this figure, eventually 17 teams reached the final stage, among which only the foreign team of Turkey moved on to the final stage and the rest of the teams were from Iran.

The CanSat competition was flourished with the welcoming of students and lasted for two month. However, it ended in May.

This year, from 17 satellites created and flown, 14 satellites were in the assessment class and three of them were in the exploration class. These handmade satellites were flown during the opening ceremony of the event in the sky of Ivanaki Airport so that the abilities of their producers could be shown to other teams.

One of the differences of this round of CanSat was increased height of flight of satellites, in a way that in the past rounds, a height of 100 m was considered for launch, which increased to 300 m this year.

This student competition, which is a form of startup, has good news for its winners. The winners of the competition will be introduced to macro national projects in the field of aerospace and a bright future career will be provided for them.

CanSat competitions include design, construction and testing of a small aerospace system, where student teams can experience the life cycle of such systems.

CanSat competition of Iran has been designed and held with the goal of laying the foundation for qualitative growth of knowledge and experience of students and enthusiasts of aerospace science and technology and competing in an interesting competition to express new ideas.

The seventh round of this national competition had the opportunity to become international since students from other countries participated in the event.
