The vice president for science and technology affairs emphasized the preparation of the infrastructures in Sistan and Baluchestan province, promising the formation of an innovation factory in this province in the near future. In this regard, he stated: establishing an innovation factory in the area could be the driving force behind the province"s knowledge-based economy and could become the birthplace of innovation.

According to the public relations and information center of the Vice-Presidency for science and technology affairs, Sorena Sattari, the vice president for science and technology affairs, considered the capacities of Sistan and Baluchestan suitable for joining the innovation ecosystem at the end of his one-day trip to Chabahar free zone during a meeting with the senior managers of the region.

Expressing that all abilities to create the necessary infrastructures to develop technology and startups in the country to witness the flourishing of technology and innovation ecosystem in the country, the vice president for science and technology affairs emphasized: we have formed the necessary infrastructure for the ecosystem of innovation and technology in the country using the creativity of the youth.

Innovation Factory, the Driving Force of knowledge-based Economy

Sattari pointed out the capacities of the province, expressing: with regard to the talented individuals in the region and preparation of the necessary infrastructures, such as growth and innovation centers, science and technology parks, accelerators, and specialized human resources, it is necessary to establish an innovation factory in the region, which can act as the driving force for knowledge-based economy of the province and the birthplace for innovations. We will support the equipping and preparation of these centers as far as the capacity of the province allows.

The vice president for science and technology affairs considered the motivation and belief of the youth in the region as an important capacity for sustainable development, asserting: successful entrepreneurs have similar stories and have been successful in very difficult situations. A person coming from a wealthy family can never be a successful entrepreneur, and the creative youth of the south of the country are among the best entrepreneurs owing to their inherent properties.

Solving the Problems by the Domestic Creative Youth

Sattari talked about the high capacity of Sistan and Baluchestan to develop knowledge-based businesses, adding: the government has considerably invested in the education of people in this province, and we must use the specialized human resources properly on the path of development of the knowledge-based economy. The province pays for the education of this youth to efficiently solve domestic problems and earn benefits by investing in the creative and graduated youth.

Sattari considered medical herbs in the region as one of the potential capacities of the province to develop the startup and knowledge-based businesses.

“The Private Sectors” Play a Key Role in the Field of Innovation

Pointing out the major and effective role of the private sector in the promotion of innovation ecosystem by forming knowledge-based and startup businesses, Sattari affirmed: an ecosystem must be provided to keep the talented youth and elites in the province so that entrepreneurs and investors of the private sector could find the opportunity for carrying out their innovative activities.

The vice president for science and technology affairs regarded the realization of such an ecosystem to be relying on the serious determination and sympathy among all sectors of the province, including universities and authorities.

Doing Product-based Research by Contributions of the Private Sector

Pointing out the necessity of creating product-based research in the presence of the private sector, Sattari marked: knowledge-based companies and startups form with the investment of the private sector. The main investor of research must be the private sector, which, if occured, results in the formation of competitive products and moving in line with the society’s needs. The Iranian-made biotech drugs, that are the main progress in the field, are the result of the cooperation of the private sector in research.
