Stem cells are among the quickly developing technologies. Therefore, it is required to develop clinical services based on this technology.

According to the public relations and information center of the Vice-Presidency for science and technology affairs, Amir Ali Hamidieh, the secretary of stem cells sciences and technology development headquarter, expressed about supplying the insurance service package of stem cells and regenerative medicine products, stating: there has been a considerable growth in the number of hematopoietic stem cell transplant centers. In addition, 1200 annual transplantation at these centers shows the importance of having this service covered by the insurance list.

Hamidieh continued: stem cells sciences and technologies will develop remarkably. Increased number of knowledge-based companies in the production and commercialization of products of the field will lead to occupation formation in the country, which paves the way for expanding clinical services based on stem cell sciences.

He also asserted: new tariff services are required for this field. In fact, the former tariffs on services with a cellular history, such as stem cell transplantation (bone marrow transplant), used in treatment of cancer, require revision.

The secretary of stem cells sciences and technology development headquarter pointed out the holding of a joint meeting with office of health technologies evaluation, standard formulation and tariff of health services, marking: in this meeting, the issue of providing insurance services packages and services in the field of stem cell and remedial medicine services was reviewed and modifications, upgrades and facilitation approaches were considered.
