Sorena Sattari, the vice president for science and technology affairs, met with Amitava Bandopadhyay, the director general of the center for science & technology of the non-aligned and other developing countries.

According to the public relations and information center of the Vice-Presidency for science and technology affairs, Amitava Bandopadhyay talked about the activities of the center during the meeting, expressing: establishment of NAM center was approved on the 7th summit of member countries of non-aligned movements in New Delhi in 1985 and eventually started its activity in 1989 in the mentioned city.

He continued: today, this center is active with 47 member countries, and one of the most important goals of the organization is improving joint science and technology cooperation between the member countries.

According to the director general of the center for science & technology of the non-aligned and other developing countries, some joint programs have been conducted with Iran to this date.

In addition to appreciating the improvement in the science and technology position of Iran in the world, Bandopadhyay regarded the advanced technologies development model of Iran a suitable model and demanded to share scientific and technological experiences of Iran with other member countries of the non-aligned movement. 

Development of the Ecosystem of Innovation Is a Tool to Advance Knowledge-based Economy

In this meeting, Sattari emphasized the important role of the Vice-Presidency in the realization of a knowledge-based economy, affirming: development of innovation and technology ecosystem in the country is a tool for advancing a knowledge-based economy.

In addition to emphasizing the request of Bandopadhyay, Sattari regarded holding joint educational courses and workshops in the area of advanced technologies to share the experiences of Iranian scientists in developing countries a positive and practical act.

The topic of nanotechnology and science and technology diplomacy was first introduced by Iran to the member countries, and Iran has been the host of two international events in the last few years in both areas.
