Unequal use of “ICT” causes a digital gap in the country
According to the public relations and information center of the Vice-Presidency for science and technology affairs, Mahdi Faghihi, secretary of information, communication and cyberspace technologies development headquarter, pointed out the digital gap between urban and rural societies, stating: given the uneven distribution of facilities between cities and villages in developing countries, there is an apparent digital gap between these societies.
Faghihi pointed out another consequence of this social challenges, affirming: another problem faced due to unequal access to the area of ICT is the occupation of urban and rural societies. This is due to lack of digital knowledge to have access to the services and infrastructures in the area of ICT because of unbalanced literacy in cities and villages.
Secretary of information, communication and cyberspace technologies development headquarter also asserted: with regard to the current statistics of the world, the condition of occupation has increased in the area of ICT, especially for female society members.
He also talked about ICT standards in the world, expressing: close assessment of the area has led to the realization that the standard basis of ISIC is based on occupation in ICT companies. There might be an ICT company where female employees work in areas related to finance, sale, accounting and other services. Therefore, their occupation is not related to their specialty.
Secretary of information, communication and cyberspace technologies development headquarter pointed out that we need to pay attention to the needs of women proportional to the development of the country. In this regard, he mentioned: we should not use masculine characters for empowering women and providing education. In addition, cultural issues must be solved with the cooperation of relevant organizations, such as ministry of education, information and communication technology with essential solutions.
