According to the public relations and information center of the Vice-Presidency for science and technology affairs, the workshop on interpretation and clinical report writing for tests based on NGS was held with the goal of culture building and promoting the standards required in this field along with the third international conference and 15^th national congress of genetics with headlines of “principles and methods of NGS”, “NGS clinical analysis method”, “Standards of Clinical NGS” and “How to Report NGS Results).

The one-day workshop of clinical interpretation of tests based on human genome sequencing was held in the presence of 60 researchers and enthusiasts of the field and by the efforts of the biotechnology development headquarter.

In recent years, widespread advancement has been made in the area of molecular pathology and use of sequence-based molecular tests in diagnosis of chronic and complication diseases. Meanwhile, the next-generation sequencing method is of paramount importance due to its high accuracy, and many clinical tests have been designed and entered into the market based on this technology.

Some of the applications of this advanced technology are “at the level of de novo genome sequencing, re-sequencing of total genome, comprehensive evaluation of all SNPs, structural changes in the number of genes, recognition of polymorphism and point mutations”, “at the level of the transcriptome, evaluation of gene expression, detection of somatic mutations and identification of alternate processing, determining expression profile of small RNAs, “at the level of the epigenome, determining the target sites for transcription factors, genome profile of modifications related to histones, and DNA methylation patterns” and “at the level of metagenome, evaluation of effects of environment and pathogens on human genome”.
