Production of a tool, which is able to contextually analyze Farsi opinions for the first time, is one of the goals of the research project of “system for mining opinion and content analysis of Farsi texts”, which is performed by the national science foundation of Iran.

According to the public relations and information center of the Vice-Presidency for science and technology affairs, “system for mining opinion and content analysis of Farsi texts” is the title of a research performed by researchers of Tarbiat Modares University of Tehran with the support of Iran national science foundation. In the project, mining opinion led to the production of an opinion vocabulary book (a phrase that shows the directionality of opinions) and a national model, according to which we can determine whether a context contains personal opinions or not. If the answer is positive, what are the opinions about and what are its aspects. In addition, the model determines whether the opinions are positive or negative or what is the order of this negativity and positivity.

In this project, Farsi contexts are considered for processing. There is still no proper vocabulary book for Farsi web, creation and development of which is a part of the research. This project aimed to create a model that can process a large volume of personal opinions of individuals in news websites and weblogs about various issues. In addition, it is aimed to assess the direction of opinions about commercial products and other different topics, realizing that whether the opinions of individuals about a topic are positive or negative. The general goal of establishing this model is understanding whether the opinions of individuals change over time and what factors have the most impacts on their opinions. Generally, opinions form the core of a new topic, known as mining opinion.
