The national brain bee competition will be held.
According to the public relations and information center of the Vice-Presidency for science and technology affairs, the fourth round of the national student test in area of neurosciences with the title of “brain bee” will be held. The fourth round this event is supported by cognitive sciences and technologies development headquarter. The national brain bee competition is held nationally in Tehran and center of provinces by the neuroscience association of Iran, where students will compete in the first stage of the event which will be held December 14th 2017. After passing the preparation rounds, participants will attend the second round, which will be held in English.
To register for the event, students can refer to the website of the competition until December 1st 2017 and all students within the range of 13-18 years (from various fields) can register.
According to this report, 30 students will be selected in the first stage of the event according to their acquired score. Following that, they will attend a short-term course to be prepared for the second stage, which will be held May 2018. The winner of the second stage will be sent to Berlin as the representative of Iran in the 20th round of the global competitions in summer of the next year. In addition, representatives of Iran have attended three previous rounds of this competition, gaining the ranks of fourth and fifth in the past two rounds.
The brain bee competition was first designed by Norbert Myslinski in 1999 in the Maryland University of America. This competition is held annually to encourage students toward learning about brain and its applications, grow young talents, use new ideas and guide the new generation of the modern world toward education in neuroscience area. This competition has been held in more than 150 centers and 30 countries of the world, and national champions will compete against each other every year. To this end, more than 30 thousand students from around the world compete in this competition, and it is covered by extensive news agencies across the globe. In Iran, this competition was held four times this year under the supervision of the neuroscience association of Iran and with the support of cognitive sciences and technologies development headquarter in two stages.
