Secretary of biotechnology development headquarter stated: given the importance of algae production in the country, this industry will be further developed with the help of the programs of the headquarter and experts of the field.

According to the public relations and information center of the Vice-Presidency for science and technology affairs, Mostafa Ghanei, secretary of biotechnology development headquarter, stated about the development of industry of algae production: algae production has been stated in the national document for development of biotechnology in the country. It is expressed in this document that necessary measures must be taken to develop, commercialize and recognize various types of algae, microalgae and knowledge-based products in this area.

According to Ghanei, various benefits of this product has led to its use in about 40-50 products with various applications in areas of food, cosmetics, medication and agriculture, water refinement, fodder and livestock and fisheries’ supplements.

He also added: algae is a living creature found in two forms inhabiting fresh and salt waters. This is a type of bacteria known as green-blue algae. Similar to plants, this bacteria can use solar energy through photosynthesis.
