The pre-clinical laboratory of Tehran University of Medical Sciences, which has been established with the support of the Vice-Presidency for science and technology affairs, will hold the “First Symposium on Imaging in Pre-clinical Studies”.

According to the public relations and information center of the Vice-Presidency for science and technology affairs, the “First Symposium on Imaging in Pre-clinical Studies” will be held by the pre-clinical laboratory of Tehran University of Medical Sciences.

The aim of holding this event is development of research and emergence of new ideas in this field, especially in professors and medicine researchers, experts, medicine basic sciences and engineering, dentistry and pharmacy.

“First Symposium on Imaging in Pre-clinical Studies” will be held in Ibn Sina Hall of Tehran University of Medical Sciences on May 14^th 2018. Enthusiasts of this field can refer to the website of the laboratory for more information.

In pharmacy development process, pre- and non-clinical studies are initiated before clinical examinations (testing on humans), during which the possibility of use of medication, repeated test and safety data were collected. The main goals of pre-clinical studies are determining the safe dose for the primary research on humans and evaluation of safety characteristics of product, which could include new medicine equipment, medications, gene therapy solutions, cell therapy and diagnostic tools. On average, one out of 5000 cases that have a combination of development stage and discovery of drugs will lead to the recognition of a reliable medication. Given the importance of pre-clinical studies and lack of presence of equipment required for research, the pre-clinical laboratory of Tehran University of Medical Sciences was established last July with the support of the Vice-Presidency for science and technology affairs.
