The working group of patent registration of the national science foundation supports the registration of inventions and industrial projects outside the country in order to witness the growth and development of creativity among the researchers of the country.

According to the public relations and information center of the Vice-Presidency for science and technology affairs, a science is beneficial that can be turned into wealth and its outcomes are observed in the society. In this path, patent and idea registration is of paramount importance. The working group of patent registration of the Iranian national science foundation supports the registration of inventions and industrial projects outside the country. This support is in the form of development of research, innovations, and growth of creativity in researchers and the youth of the country. This working group was established in 2007 and about 1078 patent registration requests have been delivered by this group from outside the country, 361 of which have been approved.

In addition, with regard to the development of the activities of the workgroup and increase of its brokerages in 2017, all projects sent to USPTO have the patent registration right without modification and on the first stage. According to the report extracted in 2016, 24.8% of the Iranian patents registered in USPTO have been supported by the foundation. In addition, 31.3% of all patents have received at least one citation. The share of patents supported by the foundation was about 39.5% and share of other patents was 28.7.
