According to the public relations and information center of the Vice-Presidency for science and technology affairs, Mahmoud Mehrdad Shokrieh, secretary of advanced manufacturing and materials development headquarter, stated about the condition of the country in the area of advanced materials scientific and industrial products: even at the international level, there are no consensus and specific indicators for describing this sector either in the scientific field or in the industrial field. Obviously, no such thing has occurred inside the country.

Shokrieh continued: with regard to the general and interdisciplinary nature of advanced materials research, the scientific publications of this area have been distributed in various sections. Therefore, evaluation of the level of scientific products of this area inside and outside the country has faced many challenges. Nevertheless, if we tolerate the production of science with the production of papers and in the second place the scientific publications of the field of material science represent the production of sciences related to advanced materials, we have little hope in the situation.

According to Shokrieh, Iran has had a signficiant growth in terms of international scientific productions in the area of material science according to the statistical data presented on the website of Scimagojr during 1996-2016 in a way that Iran has been ranked 11^th by publishing 6810 articles after China, the United States, India, Germany, Japan, Russia, South Korea, England, France, and Italy. However, the necessity of focusing on increased quality of scientific articles by Iranian researchers is very important.
