According to the public relations and information center of the Vice-Presidency for science and technology affairs, Seyed Pejhman Amin Madani, holder of the competition of “Window Washer Robots”, stated: the startup of “Problem” detects and evaluates the problems of various companies, institutes and organizations since problem itself is a vague issue. Some issues can be derived from one problem. In “Problem”, we have aimed to create measurable structured issues from a problem, and design a special competition according to the raised issues to find the best solution.

Pointing out the perspective of “open innovation”, he affirmed: when a problem is stated publically in the form of a competition, the specialists and experts of various fields can individuals or experimentally participate in the competition and present their solution. By doing so, the best solution for the problem can be obtained.

According to the holder of this event, this could lead to the formation of a new industry in the country, counterparts of which exist in the world and are not fully developed. In this regard, four active companies in this area have announced their preparedness but have no complete samples; therefore, they cannot provide services for other countries.

He continued: this field has a large market in Iran. However, a considerable export can be made, especially to countries on the shore of Persian Gulf. These companies have many glass towers, washing of some of them may take up to three months with the use of human workers.   

The holder of the “Glass Washing Robots” considered the development of these robots as a step toward preventing physical and financial costs that are paid every year for cleaning the glasses of towers.

Technology of Washing Robot Will Be Developed in Iran by Holding This Competition

Emphasizing the modification of “technology overflow”, he marked: such competitions can lead to technology overflow. Something that happens in high-tech competitions. It means that when this technology is formed, side products are created as well, which can have various applications. Those who participate in the competition might not win the prize, but can make other robots using this localized knowledge, which leads to the development of industry in the country.

Specialized Knowledge Must Be Used for Design of This Competition

Founder of problem pointed out that turning this issue into a competition took several months. He added: in this path, specialists from various areas, such as energy, nano covers, and robotics, are exploited to turn the problem of an employer in the area of glass washing into a measurable competition. 

Creation of Business Is One Step Further than Presentation of Product

According to Amin Madani, the approach of startup of “Problem” in holding the competition is to create business since that is something that will last and not the product. When a business is created, there can be products for many years. However, when only a product is produced, it is temporary.

The competition of “Glass Washing Robots” will be held by the order of Pardis technology park, with the support of knowledge-based economy, technology and science development headquarter and with the monitoring of soft and identity-making technologies development headquarter.

The cash prize of this event is one billion IRR and the prize that guarantees the contract for purchasing services with the value of two billion IRR.
