According to the public relations and information center of the Vice-Presidency for science and technology affairs, Sorena Sattari, the vice president for science and technology affairs, stated in a gathering called Yalda startup event attended by innovative business and startup owners that the performance of startups in the past few years has shown that the ecosystem for welfare and flourishing of the country has been created.
According to Sattari, most important necessity for economic evolution in the country is the formation of an entrepreneurship and innovation ecosystem. In this regard, he continued: the most important requirement for realization of knowledge-based economy and a startup society is entrepreneurship ecosystem, which can form the economic structure and be a forwarding move in all areas.
Necessity of Integration and Coordination of the Startup Community
President of the national elites foundation pointed out that the most important player in the knowledge-based economy is startup and knowledge-based business owners. He asserted: attempting to improve the knowledge-based business environment depends on the coordination, cooperation and mutual understanding of startup owners. By doing so, the entrepreneurship and innovation ecosystem can move toward advancement and progress.
Sattari continued: formation and activities of startup guild can help solving the challenges of activists of this field and integration for improvement of the entrepreneurship and innovation ecosystem.
Removal of Monopolies and Barriers to Entrepreneurship of Startups
Sattari mentioned that the presence of the private sector in the area of knowledge-based economy can create the foundation for removal of monopolies and barriers of startups. He conveyed: given the structure of oil-based economy, where troublesome mechanisms are faced with numerous challenges in establishing new businesses, accurate directing toward the mentioned economic revolution can be realized by trusting of domestic activists to this field.
He added: presence of a number of startups in the stock exchange market has improved the condition for other companies. Increased share and elevation of added value of these companies can motivate the private sector toward investment in the high-potential field.
Preparation of Universities for Establishing an Appropriate Environment for Entrepreneurial Businesses
President of the knowledge-based economy, technology and science development headquarter pointed out the change in the direction of universities toward the support of startups, affirming: universities are turning into appropriate environments for creative businesses and have gradually learned that they should not rely on the government budget to earn income.
He continued: currently, more than 280 startup companies are based around Sharif University of Technology, in which 5300 individuals are working. This indicates that the foundation for changing the surrounding area of universities into proper environments for knowledge-based businesses is being laid.
Awarding the Top Startups
During this ceremony, two top startup activists of the country were honored in the presence of Sorena Sattari, the vice president for science nad technology affairs, Parviz Karami, secretary of knowledge-based economy, technology and science development headquarter, Saeed Rahmani, CEO of Sarava, and Reza Zarnoukhi, head of the venture capital association.
In addition, the Shanbe Press, activist in the area of reflecting the events related to startups, was unveiled by Sattari.
