According to the public relations and information center of the Vice-Presidency for science and technology affairs, Parviz Karami, secretary of knowledge-based economy, technology and science development headquarter, stated on the closing ceremony of Idiran 2017: support of entrepreneurship, which is accompanied by creativity, is significantly important for the Vice-Presidency for science and technology affairs, which aims to be involved in these events. Support of knowledge boarder studies through the implementation of national macro projects is commercialization of technology in measures taken by the Vice-Presidency along with building the culture of knowledge-based economy.
Accelerated Growth of Knowledge-based Companies and Startups
Secretary of knowledge-based economy, technology and science development headquarter, regarded the growth of knowledge-based companies to be at an accelerated speed in the past few years, expressing: in 2013, there were about five knowledge-based companies. Currently, there are more than three thousand knowledge-based companies in the country. This also applies to startups, since thousands of startups have been carried out in various areas over six years.
Advisor to the vice president for science and technology affairs proposed the establishment of an accelerator in the area of industrial design, marking: nevertheless, no startup has been formed in the area of industrial design with a coherent association with the Vice-Presidency, and there is no proper accelerator in this regard. Appropriate ideas have been introduced in this event, each with the ability to be turned into a startup or knowledge-based company, so that we could witness the emergence of a startup from the heart of Idiran 2017.
Promotion and Introduction of Industrial Design
Advisor to the president of national elites foundation also expressed the publication of a handbook of the festival and industrial design in Iran, conveying: in addition, there is no handbook on the condition of Iran in this area, as well as challenges and topics of industrial design and situation of individuals, institutes and companies of this field. Therefore, this festival can put this task on its agenda to establish an accelerator and publish a handbook in this scientific field with the support of knowledge-based economy, science and technology development headquarter.
Advisor to the vice president for science and technology affairs also pointed out the formation of a technological and innovative ecosystem in the country, stating: various organizations, such as universities, scientific centers, technology parks, startups, venture capital funds and accelerators, play a role in this entrepreneurial ecosystem. Industrial design involves designers from areas who can have impacts on all of these areas since products need a scientific base to be more properly presented and accepted in the market. This highlights the role of industrial design in this regard. Karami also mentioned the necessity of holding Idiran, expressing: this festival creates a suitable environment for activists of this field to promote and develop this area.
Creativity; the Cornerstone of Innovation
Secretary of knowledge-based economy, technology and science development headquarter also denoted: creativity as the cornerstone of innovation, and innovation as the default of economic growth, can yield promising results in economic growth of the country not as separated concepts, but as a united system. Meanwhile, many other concepts come alongside with it. Talent of individuals, financial and emotional supports, culture of entrepreneurship and many other subjects are the components of an integrated innovation and technology ecosystem, which can turn what is in the mind of people into economic flourishing at the end.

Karami stated that industrial design is regarded as a creative industry. In this regard, he added: industrial design is one of the important components of knowledge-based economy, having a share higher than the average in areas of growth and creation of occupation in measurable cases. Moreover, industrial design is one of the tools for transfer of cultural identity, which plays an important role in succession and cultural diversity. Over the past decade, a number of governments in the world has realized the importance of creative industries and has designed policies for their promotion.
The third round of Idiran festival was held with the support of the Vice-Presidency for science and technology affairs. During the closing ceremony, award winners of the event received their prizes in the presence of Parviz Karami, secretary of knowledge-based economy, technology and science development headquarter, Abedini, secretary of the festival, and jury members.
