One of the most widely used water desalination systems is the “reverse osmosis desalination system”. Its development requires advanced technology, and knowledge-based companies have entered the field. In a way, witnessing valuable events in this field for the "construction of Iran" of this system has begun.
Reverse osmosis is a state-of-the-art technology that purifies brackish water for a variety of uses, including industry and drinking water. In this method, the salt water is pumped through a special membrane with very small pores using high pressure pumps made of special alloys, thereby separating the seawater from the fresh water.
Knowledge-based companies have aimed to eliminate the bottlenecks of the reverse osmosis desalination system. Three bottlenecks have been identified in this path; the first step is the industrial prototype of high-pressure pumps created with the support of the water, drought, erosion and environment technologies development headquarter. This product is one of the most complex pumps in terms of technology and is considered an advanced piece of equipment. The membrane for these systems is also in the semi-industrial production stage, and work has begun on examining the internal capacity to localize the pressure vessels for these systems.
The water, drought, erosion and environment technologies development headquarter will support novel ideas in this area to take stronger steps toward the localization of the system.
