According to the public relations and information center of the Vice-Presidency for science and technology affairs, the environment working group of biotechnology development headquarter will support the prioritized projects of this field to increase synergy in activities of executive organizations and units in the area of environment and to reduce the serious risks of this field. In this regard, one of the activities of this working group is prioritization of environment projects.

Therefore, a goal of the environment working group, that is seriously followed up this year, is determining the prioritized projects in the area of environment and financial and spiritual support of their implementation.

The most important activities of this working group in the environment section is refining contaminated soils to petroleum products and petrochemicals, production of bio-fuels (biodiesel, bioethanol, and biogas), bioremediation of industrial, municipal and medical wastewater, bioremediation of soil pollutants, biopreparations of air pollutants, recycling and bio-conversion of pollutants, production and construction of environmental biotechnology equipment, biological stabilization of fossils, biodiversity of clouds and other methods of coping with drought, production of bio-inputs, bio-production of various types of environmentally friendly products (e.g., bioplastics), biological control of pests, coping with the deterioration of natural resources (with an emphasis on oak forests), biodegradation of toxic pollutants and recycling of valuable tailing waste gases produced by mine extraction, and bioremediation of pollutants.
