Assisting the World Intellectual Property Organization in protecting the rights of Iranian knowledge-based companies in global markets
Vice President of Science, Technology and Knowledge-Based Economy in a meeting with the Director General of the World Intellectual Property Organization (WIPO) discussed and exchanged opinions regarding bilateral cooperation, including helping to protect the rights of Iranian knowledge-based companies in global markets and training Iranian experts in the field of evaluating the intangible assets of these companies.
According to the communication and information center in the Vice Presidency of Science, Technology and Knowledge-Based Economy, Ruhollah Dehghani, who went to Switzerland to participate in the UN Human Rights Council Social Forum meeting, also met with Darren Tang, Director General of the World Intellectual Property Organization (WIPO).
In this meeting, it was discussed about bilateral cooperation and training of teams working in Iran in the field of intangible assets evaluation and registration of intellectual rights of knowledge-based companies, and it was decided to hold several training courses in this field in Iran with the follow-up of the Vice Presidency of Science and the support of WIPO.
Dehghani also pointed to the importance of protecting the rights of Iranian knowledge-based companies when they are present in global markets, and addressed the problems in this field, which is a major challenge in the development of international markets for Iranian knowledge-based companies.
He demanded that with the assistance of the World Intellectual Property Organization in this regard, a mechanism can be established in the country so that knowledge-based companies can be included in the process of evaluating intangible assets and ensure the protection of their rights in foreign markets.
In the end, it was decided that in the near future, negotiations will be held between a delegation from the Vice Presidency of Science and a group of WIPO experts and the framework of joint cooperation will be determined, and then a delegation from WIPO will travel to Iran to agree on the fields of cooperation and how to follow them up.
Amirhossein Mirabadi, the head of the Center for International Interactions of Science and Technology in the Vice Presidency of Science, Technology and Knowledge-Based Economy, who accompanied Dehghani on his trip to Geneva, described the atmosphere of the negotiations as positive, and expressed his hope that with the development for the cooperation of the Vice President of Science with the World Organization Intellectual property, great steps should be taken in the direction of improving Iran's position in the global innovation index, as well as preserving the intellectual property rights of Iranian knowledge-based companies in global markets.
He emphasized: Explanation and serious attention to the issue of intellectual property will contribute very effectively to the rapid development of the international market of knowledge-based products and will lead to a significant change in the country's knowledge-based economy.
