Sattari at the Open Court of the Islamic Consultative Assembly:

The parliament supports the development of the innovation and technology ecosystem in the country
At the open court of the Islamic Consultative Assembly, the vice president for science and technology affairs stated: we want the parliament to support the development of the innovation and technology ecosystem. For this to happen, we need the support and cooperation of all organizations.
According to the public relations and information center of the Vice-Presidency for science and technology affairs, Sorena Sattari, the vice president for science and technology affairs, was present at the open court of the Islamic Consultative Assembly and talked about the growth of innovation and technology ecosystem in the country and moving toward the knowledge-based economy.
First, Sattari appreciated the support of the law for support of knowledge-based companies by the head, board of directors and the representatives of the assembly, stating: talking about the knowledge-based economy means talking about the future of the country. Iran has depended on oil reservoirs for more than 100 years, which has led to economic dependency on oil money and product export. The term "resource curse" also indicates this and applies to countries dependent on underground resources. The dependence on oil made the original capital of the young and creative force forgotten.
The vice president for science and technology affairs continued: since my appointment, I have followed up the establishment of the knowledge-based ecosystem in the country. This has been happening since the early years of support of the law to support knowledge-based companies and institutes approved by the Islamic consultative assembly.
Sattari regarded the law to support knowledge-based companies and institutes as one of the best laws approved by the Islamic consultative assembly. In this regard, he marked: putting pressure on executing the law led to significant results, including the activity of 4700 knowledge-based companies and a sales rate of more than 90 billion Tomans. In this ecosystem, more than 300 thousand direct jobs have been provided to people. Of course, this is the sales for the past year and this year we are definitely seeing good growth in this area.
The president of the national elites foundation expressed: we have witnessed the formation of this ecosystem in the last five years. By supplying the human resources, universities are a part of this ecosystem. However, they cannot directly enter the workforce into the ecosystem due to some structures. Therefore, growth centers, science and technology parks and innovation centers have been shaped in countries. Even the most deprived universities have these centers.
Sattari regarded startups as another player of the ecosystem, asserting: startups are responsible for supplying the necessary human resources in the ecosystem. More than six thousand startups are currently active in the country. However, the formation and bolstering of this ecosystem is an important issue. Biotechnology, nanotechnology, information technology, and the stem cell field are the largest part of the ecosystem that injects a new generation of entrepreneurs into the country"s economy. This year, we are seeing more than 50% growth in this ecosystem. The growth that continues to grow each year.
The vice president for science and technology affairs considered the change of thinking in society as a factor for more prosperity of the ecosystem, declaring: the capital of the country is its creative human resources, where we need culture-building in terms of use.
The president of the knowledge-based economy and culture-building technologies development headquarter mentioned the more than a hundred billion Tomans investment of companies in the drug ecosystem in production lines, affirming: we want the parliament to support the ecosystem. About 700 elites have returned to the country from the top universities of the world and have been recruited by the ecosystem every year. These individuals are the mentors of the ecosystem. With these acts, we have almost completely eliminated the exit of graduates from the country.
According to Sattari, no European country has this capacity in manpower like Iran. Therefore, we have to turn this potential into an economy. The Vice-Presidency has taken steps in this field to witness the prosperity of the knowledge-based economy.
The business environment in the country is troubled by its 100-year dependence on oil. No country has grown up in a knowledge-based economy except by protecting its market. This should be noted in the laws. Knowledge-based companies are at the frontline and must be supported to boost the ecosystem.
Pointing out that the flourishing of the ecosystem is a way to fight sanctions, asserting: in this year’s budget, we see proper improvements. The Islamic consultative assembly must support us to witness serious phenomena in the fight against sanctions. The government has seriously supported the area. Establishment of innovation factories in the country and even deprived regions is considered by the president so that the creative youth could be recruited to implement their ideas. Then, there will be serious changes in the economy. It is of no use to the country if education is not linked to the economy.
