The Vice Presidency support the development of a large indigenous language model
At a meeting of members of the academic project for the development of a large native language model with the Vice President of Science, Technology and Knowledge-Based Economy, the progress of the project and the Vice Presidency's support mechanisms for the development of native artificial intelligence models were reviewed and explained.
According to a report by the Communication and Information Center in the Vice Presidency of Science, Technology and Knowledge-Based Economy, the meeting of the Vice-President for Science and Technology and the Technology Group of the Project for Designing a Large Native Iranian Language Model from Tarbiat Modarres University reviewed the progress of this project, the requirements and support mechanisms for similar projects based on artificial intelligence.
Hossein Afshin, The Vice President of Science, Technology and Knowledge-Based Economy, referring to the priority patterns and issues of the Vice Presidency’s support for indigenous and technological projects in the field of artificial intelligence, said: The Vice Presidency of Science and Technology, in the form of facility support for companies and financial support for university projects that expand the boundaries of knowledge and technology, provides a platform for the development of technology and its application in the field of governance and meeting the needs of society. The approach of the Vice Presidency of Science and Technology is not corporate and, in proportion to the importance and innovation of the projects, provides financial support and facilities to meet a need or to create a culture and a trend of guiding projects so that they become mainstream, become economic in the future, and can create added value and employment is one of the most important approaches of the Vice Presidency of Science in this support.
Referring to supporting the development of artificial intelligence tools and functions, he said: Universities play a key role in developing tools, and applications, and promoting a culture of applying advanced technologies, including artificial intelligence, and for this purpose, university development and technological projects are supported by the Vice Presidency of Science. Among these programs is the development of artificial intelligence assistants to create a culture and promote this field in the form of a call with top universities, and following this call, each of these universities will design the mission of developing and launching an artificial intelligence assistant for one of the areas of governance and executive power, from ministries to the country's legislative body.
Afshin stated that the Vice Presidency is ready to define at least one AI assistant project with all leading and top universities, and continued: If the universities are successful in implementing the project, they will be supported with special facilities in the form of defining new projects. This will encourage university life to work in the field of technology application and institutionalize the culture of AI development in the university and elite society.
Stating that the development of AI projects and plans will be supported in the form of contracts with universities, the head of the National Elites Foundation continued: In addition to supporting promotional and mission-oriented projects in universities for the development of AI, the Vice Presidency of Science is trying to provide the ground for the implementation of innovative university plans and ideas in the field of AI by supporting the development of a coherent and integrated infrastructure.
