A joint meeting was held between the medicinal herbs and traditional medicine sciences and technologies development headquarter and the representatives of some executive and scientific centers with an emphasis on the amplification and processing principles based on the approved health standards in the field of leech breeding industry.
Mohammad Hasan Osareh, the secretary of the medicinal herbs and traditional medicine sciences and technologies development headquarter, stated in the meeting: according to scientific and academic research, leech-related therapeutic issues are of increasing interest not only in Iran but also in other countries.
According to Osareh, unlike many other methods in the field of treatment, due to the contact of this leech with human blood, all leech-assisted treatment processes, including production, reproduction, and therapeutic monitoring, must be treated with high sensitivity and accuracy.
The secretary of the medicinal herbs and traditional medicine sciences and technologies development headquarter pointed out the programs carried out in the field of leech-based treatment in the headquarter, expressing: greater cross-device coordination needs to be eliminated to remove unscientific therapies in leech therapy.
In addition to appreciate the measures taken to develop aquaculture (fish and shrimps) to develop leech breeding, Osareh marked: at the time of the victory of the Islamic Revolution, the total production of aquaculture in the country was about 30,000 tons, while it amounted to 1,100,000 tons this year.
During the meeting, the development of creative and knowledge-based companies in the leech breeding ecosystem and related treatment products were evaluated and the support of the headquarter to eliminate the active presence of companies in the field was emphasized. In addition, the export of products of leech breeding industry and related issues were discussed in the meeting as well.
