Iran national science foundation has considered the expansion of technological activities as one of its strategies. In this regard, 17 working groups have been established in the foundation to support scientific and technological research performed in the country. Iman Eftekhari, the head of the national science foundation, stated: there are various working groups in the fund that support the research projects of researchers across the country. In this case, solving the country's major problems is accelerated by using the capabilities of researchers and specialists.

He added: about 4,000 research projects are submitted to the fund each year. One of the challenges in this area is screening for these projects, in which nearly 200 scientists from across the country are cooperating with working groups to evaluate the projects. After screening, evaluation, and final judging, approved plans for support are identified.

Researchers and activists in the technology and innovation ecosystem can send their research projects based on the country's needs and the foundation’s priorities to the relevant working groups.

These working groups are active in areas such as technical and engineering, medicine, environment, biological sciences, arts and architecture, humanities, agriculture, international affairs, science and grant promotion, and chairs. Researchers can submit designs based on calls published by these working groups. This call is published three times a year for each working group.
