The president of the strategic technologies development headquarter pointed out the start of research to produce corona vaccine at Iran University of Medical Sciences, announcing the mass production of native coronavirus detection kits in near future.

According to the public relations and information center of the Vice-Presidency for science and technology affairs, Esmaeil Ghaderifar, the president of the strategic technologies development headquarter, explained about the Vice-Presidency’s support and performance regarding the coronavirus epidemic peak, stating: the Vice-Presidency has acted in line with the work of other organizations of the country to effectively deal with coronavirus with supporting the development of technologies related to this issue.

He continued: one of the important tasks is producing different types of diagnostic kits for the disease. Fortunately, we have identified several technological companies active in this area. The mass production of laboratory kits will be soon initiated.

The president of the strategic technologies development headquarter also marked: given the need for the confirmation of the kits by the general office of medical equipment of ministry of health, close interactions have been carried out between the Vice-Presidency and the ministry of health. Some of the projects proposed by elites have passed the first stage and are quickly assessed at the biotechnology development headquarter to initiate the mass production of kits in near future.

Daily production of 20,000 “nano masks” by a Knowledge-based Company

Regarding the production of nano masks, Ghaderifar affirmed: nano or filter masks are one of the mostly consumed products these days due to the outbreak of coronavirus. Fortunately, a great knowledge-based company working in the field of N95 and N99 masks is supported by the Vice-Presidency and has the capacity of increasing its production up to three times, which means a daily production of 20,000 nano masks.

He continued: the Vice-Presidency has attempted to evaluate any innovation or technology proposed by researchers, scientists and startups of Iran so that we could seriously enter the field of developing technologies related to coronavirus.

Construction of mRNA Vaccines against Coronavirus

The president of the strategic technologies development headquarter also mentioned: Iran University of Medical Sciences has aimed to produce mRNA vaccines against coronavirus.

He also expressed: all companies producing masks, detergents, disinfectants, and quarantine-related clothing are doing their best and using all power and capacity by working intricately and round the clock. In addition, the Vice-Presidency will dedicate extensive efforts to the development of technologies in this field.
