According to a research performed in Baqiyatallah University of Medical Sciences, the combination of three drugs, prednisolone, azithromycin and naproxen increased the healing of pulmonary inflammation, decreased hospital stay, and increased blood oxygen level. The research was confirmed during the first days of the outbreak, and its article has been recently published.

According to the secretary of the biotechnology development headquarter, the second phase of the research is started based on several core studies. The study attempted to realize whether there is a need for using the combination along with other drugs for patients with COVID-19 or not. The research has been performed on 100 hospitalized patents.

The results have been tested in Qom, Qazvin, and Tehran. According to the results, the combination alone improved the pulmonary conditions of patients without a need for an antivirus drug. This has been formerly rejected in therapeutic protocols in the US and Europe.

In this regard, Ghanei stated: earlier, the US and European protocols rejected the use of corticosteroids to treat pneumonia in patients with COVID-19. However, a few days ago, the World Health Organization announced that, according to British research, the use of corticosteroids is effective in treating pneumonia, which was approved in Iran since March.
