Bontech Technology Tower Is Opened; Sattari: Sharif Innovation Zone Is a New Culture

During the opening ceremony of Bontech Technology Tower, Sattari considered the formation of Sharif Innovation Zone as a new culture that can help urban development and the promotion of public culture in society.

On the third day of week of government, Bontech Technology Tower was opened as the first private sector technology tower in the presence of Sorena Sattari, the vice president for science and technology affairs, Pirouz Hanachi, the mayor of Tehran, Shahrbanoo Amani, a council member, and Rasoul Keshtpour, the mayor of district 2.

During the ceremony, Sattari mentioned that centers similar to Sharif Innovation Zone exist in the world and Iran, stating: for example, the publications in front of the University of Tehran are a small and simplified example of the formation of the innovation area in the country.

According to Sattari, universities must first change their surrounding ecosystem and solve the problems in the streets of the city.

Sattari continued: a state-funded university is not product-oriented and does not benefit society. Certainly, the innovation area is not a product of a university run with government money.

The president of the national elites foundation also asserted: lack of university-community interaction will lead to lack of ability to identify and solve people’s problems.

He added: universities of the world have no walls and are considered as components of the city, which is interpreted as proper academia-community interactions.

The president of the headquarters for culture knowledge-based economy also marked: university interaction with the community is essential. In this type of interaction, students become familiar with the needs and problems of the people and will be concerned about addressing them.

Sattari continued: we studied with government money to help solve people’s problems.

According to Sattari, Sharif Innovation Zone is a new pattern in the country recognized as a successful example for other provinces and universities of the country.

The vice president for science and technology affairs mentioned the opening of Benotech Technology Power, declaring: this tower is a good example of the university's interaction with the private sector. An event that leads to the development of technology and innovation ecosystem in the country.

Sattari mentioned: the innovation and technology ecosystem must form around the university to be used by people. Society must feel and understand the result of the formation of the ecosystem in their lives. They have to see and use a new kind of technology service every day.

Pointing out the efforts made by the municipality of district 2 for establishing Sharif Innovation Zone and Benotech Technology Tower, he continued: this path must continue. This is accelerated by the presence and money of the private sector. At present, both the Sharif Innovation Zone and the Innovation Station have been established in collaboration with the university and the private sector.

According to the vice president for science and technology affairs, Sharif Innovation Zone is an urban development model, which also be used for reconstruction of worn-out urban fabric.

Pointing out the youth’s ability to respond to urban needs, Sattari claimed: we can use the ideas of the youth to develop cities and implement urban management programs. We must only eliminate the barriers to the path of these individuals.

The president of the national elites foundation mentioned: some cities are still not prepared for the entrance of the youth and startups due to the resistance of traditional businesses. The municipality’s help in eliminating these barriers will enable the young force to remove urban issues.

Sattari continued: however, traditional businesses have no choice but to cooperate with new businesses. Their resistance will lead to their failure.

He believes that removing these barriers requires some legal action, which is possible with the help of the municipality and the city council.

Knowledge-based Establishment Is Facilitated

During the ceremony, Pirouz Hanachi, the mayor of Tehran, appreciated the efforts of the vice president for science and technology affairs for developing science and technology in the country, asserting: an appropriate movement has been made in the country with these efforts, where human resources can be relied on as a national wealth.

The Only Solution for Urban Problems Is Trusting the Youth

Shahrbanoo Amani, a council member of Tehran, stated: the beauty of this kind of movement is that an effort is made to keep the youth and elites of this land in the country and to serve the people and the society. This prevents the migration of elites.
