The president of the convergent technologies development center announced the support development of businesses in the field of biodata, stating: the only way to develop the market in this area in the country is to prevent samples from leaving.

According to the public relations and information center of the Vice-Presidency for science and technology affairs, the new generation of sequencing (NGS) is one of the areas of convergence, the development of which is one of the programs of the convergent technologies development center.

Ali Mohammad Soltani, the head of the convergent technologies development center, expressed: The NGS is a set of technologies that can sequence large volumes of DNA in a short time with a low cost. Given that research in this area is rapidly evolving in the world, we have taken steps to expand it. The first step of the center has been the announcement of a call to support biodata-related businesses. He considered the support of production and commercialization of cell-free DNA kits another measure taken by the center, adding: the product has been produced in Iran for the first time with the help of knowledge-based companies. Quality verification tests have been performed in one of the medical genetics laboratories. The tech company has already launched a number of these kits, and this year, with more support from the Convergent Technology Strategic Center, it will increase its production and sales volume.

Soltani also marked: studying and examining the barriers to the development of business data in the field of biological data in the country is another step taken by the center to develop this field in the country. Field studies have shown that one of the main obstacles to the formation of businesses in this field is the uncontrolled exit of samples abroad and the only way to develop its market in the country is to prevent the exit of these samples. On this issue, we need policies and regulatory programs at the national level, as well as technology and product development programs together.

He explained about the prioritizes of this year for the development of biodata, asserting: this year, the second call was made to support businesses of the field and start of new businesses in two sections of kits and data analysis.
