The first vice president emphasized the great need of the country to humanities and social sciences, expressing: humanities and social sciences at all stages, and especially at critical levels, play a very important and decisive role in overcoming the problems. The greater the complexity of issues in society and the world, the more the need of humans to these sciences.
According to the public relations and information center of the Vice-Presidency for science and technology affairs, Eshaq Jahangiri, the first vice president, appreciated the efforts of those involved in holding the 10th edition of Farabi International Festival on Humanities and Islamic Studies, adding: as the executives and policymakers, we expect the academic and scientific institutions of the country to help the government authorities and citizens understand the issues and provide the appropriate solutions to overcome the problems.
The first vice president pointed out the 40th anniversary of victory of Islamic revolution, regarding the elimination of ambiguities about the future of the country an important necessity. In this respect, he affirmed: we must reduce our concern for the future in various social, economic, political, and cultural areas, with the help of scientific thinking, political thought and determination, and a sense of moral responsibility.
He also asserted: now is the time of dialogue, and raising trust in each other, in ourselves and in the system. The most important capital that the country has to solve problems is social capital, which is the result of a reading and receiving a part of religion presented by Imam Khomeini from Islam, which indicates that a government is based on the will of the people and the people play the first and decisive role in the government.
He continued: In meetings we have had with academics and scholars, a part of the country"s challenges was raised and advisory clusters and various working groups were formed to find solutions, and good dialogues were conducted between the government and the university.
Considering the importance of elite view toward the government’s decision for the future of the county, the first vice president reminded: eliminating the complicated problems that we will face in the future will be eliminated only with the cooperation of people.
Jahangiri claimed: today, we are at a time when we urgently need dialogue between the elites and the government, as well as the dialogue between the people and the government. Even if people are protesting the situation, their protest should be heard because we will only be able to solve the problems if the people cooperate with the government.
The first vice president described the important role of elites of the society in the dialogue between the government and people, stating: these dialogues are necessities we must adhere to.
Jahangiri expressed his hope that the scholars and thinkers in the field of humanities at the current stage understand the conditions of the country properly and help others understand these conditions.
