Sattari: “Farabi International Award” Will Introduce the Rich Iranian and Islamic Culture to the World

Sattari expressed during the closing ceremony of the 11th Farabi International Award: holding such awards will play an important role in introducing the rich Iranian-Islamic culture to the world. We hope that such events can help do this the best way possible.

This morning, the closing ceremony of the 11th Farabi International Award was held in the presence of Sorena Sattari, the vice president for science and technology affairs, Mansour Gholami, the minister of science, and a number of humanities activists.

Pointing out the long history of humanities in Iran, Sattari marked: while Iran has a long history in this area, we have yet to achieve a good position in the field of humanities publications.

The vice president for science and technology affairs believes that holding this festival will help identify and introduce the rich culture of Iran in humanities in other countries. We must support these events to see advancement in this area.

The president of the national elites foundation continued: this year, the event did not have the same quality due to the outbreak of corona disease. Nevertheless, holding the award in any form or situation is important for our country.

The president of the headquarters for culture knowledge-based economy also asserted: in the current context in which the whole world is suffering from corona disease, it is the duty of all of us to help each other, especially in the areas related to the humanities.

Farabi Will Assist in Maintaining Scientific Independence

During the ceremony, Mansour Gholami, the minister of science, mentioned that planning for decreasing the country’s problems and concerns must mainly focus on developing accurate and appropriate political packages by humanities scientists. In this regard, he continued: Farabi International Awards will be completely dedicated to maintaining scientific independence in the country.

Pointing out the current situation in the world and the outbreak of coronavirus, he stated: in recent months, the outbreak of this disease has affected various aspects of social life, and therefore, the important role of the humanities for a low-cost transition from this crisis is highlighted more than ever.

Issues such as lifestyle changes, environmental protection and scientific policy-making can help the country's higher education in the current situation relying on national and global experiences.

Young Talents Are Driven to Study and Research in the Humanities

Farabi International Award is held annually to guide the young talents toward research and education in humanities and Islamic fields. This is carried out to make humanities applicable in the country through recognizing the most important issues of Iran and the Islamic world and identifying and introducing top talents in these fields to use their abilities in the development process.
