According to the public relations and information center of the Vice-Presidency for science and technology affairs, the first day of the theory and practical workshops for familiarization with CRISPR was held by the skin research center of Shahid Beheshti University of Medical Sciences and with the cooperation of stem cells sciences and technologies development headquarter at the location of skin research center.

This workshop is being held in two days and before the second symposium on skin, repair, stem cells and regenerative medicine. The event was greatly welcomed by students and physicians of the fields of tissue engineering, gene therapy, and stem cells. In addition, two theory and practical sections have been designed for the participants.

In the CRISPR workshop, the topics of introducing the CRISPR system and mechanism of action and applications, types of optimizations on CRISPR system, familiarization with methods for evaluation of performance of CRISPR system, application of CRISPR system in formation of animal models and pre-clinical studies, principles of GRNA design and introduction of primer sites in CRISPR achievements. At the end of the workshops, the topics presented in the workshop were reviewed and discussed.

Practical workshop of “culture of keratinocyte and melanocyte and its implantation in patients with vitiligo”, separation and culture of fibroblasts, and isolation of SVF cells with two automatic and manual techniques was held by the skin research center of Shahid Beheshti University of Medical Sciences with the cooperation of stem cells sciences and technologies development headquarter.

This workshop, which was held before the second symposium on skin, repair, stem cells and regenerative medicine, was greatly welcomed by students and physicians of the fields of tissue engineering and stem cells and regenerative medicine and in two theory and practical sections.

The main topics of the workshop included separation and culture of fibroblast, transplantation of keratinocyte and melanocyte in vitiligo patients, isolation of SVF cells with RECELL device. At the end of the workshops, the contents presented in the event were reviewed and evaluated.
