The third symposium on “stem cells and their application in renal diseases” was held in Omid Hall of pediatric hospital by the support of stem cells sciences and technologies development headquarter.

According to the public relations and information center of the Vice-Presidency for science and technology affairs, Amir Ali Hamidieh, secretary of stem cells sciences and technologies development headquarter, presented a lecture on the development of stem cells and regenerative medicine and commercialization foundations of this science on the third symposium on “stem cells and their application in renal diseases”.

He pointed out the role of universities, professors, and scientific individuals of the society in the formation of the occupational foundation for students of the society, expressing: science must lead to gaining an income in the country. One of the sciences with the ability of wealth creation is stem cells and regenerative medicine, which could be beneficial for the people from the economic aspect.

Hamidieh continued: university must be in the core of the society to make progress in the country. In addition, universities must create jobs in addition to training students and help the creation of knowledge-based products. The main issue in the progress of the country is producing a product through research.

Secretary of stem cells sciences and technologies development headquarter presented some reports on the advancements made in the area of stem cells and regenerative medicine and the market of science and technology in the world, emphasizing: we need to increase our efforts in the commercialization area to gain a share of the global market in the next few years. Generally, stem cells and regenerative medicine are quickly growing in the world and we must utilize this condition by accurate targeting.

In this one-day symposium, 15 research articles were presented by faculty members of universities and researchers of the field. In addition, there was one student article (in English).
