The Islamic Consultative Assembly accepted membership in “YASA”

On a public meeting on November 12th, 2019, the Islamic Consultative Assembly accepted the generalities and the principle of the bill of Iran in International Institute of Applied Systems Analysis (YASA).

The bill was passed with 153 votes in favor, 6 against and 4 abstains. In 2016, membership of the Iran national science fund in YASA as the representative of Iran was accepted, and this membership was accepted by the Islamic Consultative Assembly this morning.

This agreement allows the government to become a YASA member based on membership charter and act on paying the membership cost or a donation.

International Institute of Applied Systems Analysis (YASA) is an international research organization located near Vienna, the capital of Austria, that conducts interdisciplinary scientific studies on environmental, economic, technological and social issues in the field of the human dimension of global change. By joining YASA, researchers of Iran can use the capacities of this institute and its facilities.

Seyed Kazem Delkhosh, one of the representatives who agreed with the membership of Iran in the institute, stated: membership in the institute is subject to conditions that if countries adhere to them, they can become a member. Therefore, Iran"s membership in the institute will be helpful in developing scientific and research innovations, strengthening energy management, protecting the environment, and promoting health and safety.

The institute has an independent structure established in 1971 by 12 countries of the world, who believed that countries must be scientifically connected to each other regardless of political affiliation. The institute establishes links between different disciplines, and prominent specialists from around 60 countries, including Nobel Prize winners, collaborate with the institute.

Austria, Australia, UK, Indonesia, Ukraine, US, Germany, South Africa, Brazil, Russia, Japan, China, South Korea, Pakistan, Finland, Sweden, Egypt, Mexico, Malaysia, Norway, India and the Netherlands are some of the members of the institute.
