The second meeting of the strategic council of the national program of science and technology futuring in the area of automotive was held with the topic of future of automotive industry, the way ahead, opportunities and challenges.

According to the public relations and information center of the Vice-Presidency for science and technology affairs, the active beneficiates in the policy making units, activists of automotive industry, academic audiences and other major players of the industry attended the meeting.

In the beginning, Mohammad Naghizade, secretary of the national program of science and technology futuring in the area of automotive stated: we have been active in this area for more than nine months now, and we have been able to determine the main symbol for achieving our goals.

According to Naghizadeh, five specialized meeting have been held with four main topics of “electric cars”, “self-driving cars”, “new business models” and rule-making and regulation. In addition, 11 specialized reports have been prepared in this regard.

He also asserted: in addition, two international forums and two specialized meetings have been considered to advance program goals in the next year. The first forum will be held mid-June with the cooperation of participants from France, and the second forum will be held by the participants from Austria.

The executive secretary of the national program of science and technology futuring in the area of automotive continued: we have aimed to create a joint vision of the future, form a joint working group, define joint projects, produce specialized roadmaps and design Delphi program to persuade 36 major players of the field to cooperate with us.

Naghizadeh continued: the government players of this industry include the Vice-Presidency for science and technology affairs, ministry of industry, ministry of power, ministry of road and urban construction, standard organization, organization of environment, municipality, central insurance company and the police, all of which will play a role in the national program of automotive futuring.

Information and Communication Technology; an Essential Complement for Future of Automotive Industry

In this meeting, Nasrollah Jahangard, the vice president for innovation and technology of the ministry of information and communication technology pointed out the remarkable growth of information and communication in the country, asserting: without a doubt, the information and communication technology will play a significant role in the future of automotive industry. With regard to technological changes in all industries, a close relationship must be created between the industry of automotive and IT.

National Program of Science and Technology futuring; a Step toward Synergy and Joint Mental Model

Mahdi Eliasi, deputy of policy making and strategic assessment of the Vice-Presidency, stated: we need to dedicate extensive efforts to issues regarded in this program to achieve its goals. It is necessary to do this regardless of the barriers to our path since the current problems in the automotive industry cannot be eliminated at once.
