According to the public relations and information center of the Vice-Presidency for science and technology affairs, this competition will be held in three stages, and its registration has initiated since mid-May. Companies, researchers, faculty members and universities of universities and research centers with potential and other enthusiasts can announce their preparedness for participation in the competition until June 22nd 2018. The competition of “new generation sequencing data analysis” will be held with the goal of recognition and empowerment of activists of this field. In the modern world, the ability of collecting, analyzing and using macro data are of paramount importance.
One of these macro data is genomic data, which are mainly produced by relying on the new generation sequencing data analysis. With regard to constant progress of sequencing methods, there is a large volume of the data produced in the world, and most of researchers believe that analysis and use of these data will have a significant effect on life of people.
In the first stage of the competition, user accounts on virtual server will be allocated to participants, who are asked to answer a set of questions and perform quality control on a set of raw data. All individuals or teams that are able to acquire the minimum required score will move on to the next stage. In phase two, participants will have two weeks to perform their computing activities on the data of the virtual server. The third stage included a competition and in-person interview to evaluate technical and specialized activities of teams by judging panel.
At this stage, educational workshops on business model will be held to empower participants in establishing businesses. In the end, the first-third teams will receive valuable prizes. In addition, the teams four to ten will receive a free server for one year. Participation in this competition is free and open to the public.
