Affiliated to the Vice-Presidency for science and technology affairs, Iran Science Elites Federation has supported 75 “science elites” in 2019 with the goal of empowering and increasing the scientific quality of the country.

Those elected receive support including cash (from $20 million to $50 million Tomans) and the Strategic Technologies Laboratory Network Grant. In addition, applying a postdoctoral researcher (one-two people) and attending internationally accredited congresses is another part of their support. The fee of postdoctoral researchers is paid for one year by Iran Science Elites Federation. To select these individuals, the scientific validity (SC) of the subjects is measured and the top 75 individuals are selected in two groups of "A" and "B".

Indicators such as, average citations of articles, and academic age are also used to measure scientific validity. For the evaluation and selection of individuals in 2019, the publication of at least one article in the period 2016-2018 in one of the top journals approved by the Federation is required.

Other scientific indices are used to calculate one"s scientific credibility, such as the quality of publications (individual citations from top journals), lectures at accredited scientific congresses as keynote speakers and invitees.
