The number of knowledge-based companies in the field of stem cells and regenerative medicine increased to 100 in 2019. This number of companies have generated about one thousand jobs.
According to the public relations and information center of the Vice-Presidency for science and technology affairs, self-sufficiency in the provision of health care products and services and in the creation of employment and entrepreneurship are among the measures that have emerged with the development of stem cell knowledge-based companies.
In this regard, the stem cells sciences and technologies development headquarter has promoted academics and experts to establish knowledge-based companies, thereby taking effective steps in this field.
These companies are supported in the localization of technologies in order to take the primary and necessary steps toward the formation of infrastructures for development of knowledge-based economy. While only two knowledge-based companies in the field of stem cells and regenerative medicine were working in 2013, there was a considerable growth in this rate in the next years owing to the improvement of incentive laws and policies of the headquarter.
In addition to creating more than one thousand jobs, the income of these companies has reached more than five billion Rials.
