The international caricature competition entitled “We Defeat Coronavirus” is an event that will be held with the support of the knowledge-based economy and culture-building technologies development headquarter in order to use the effective tool of art along with the activities of the activists in the innovation and technology ecosystem to defeat corona.

According to the public relations and information center of the Vice-Presidency for science and technology affairs quoted by “Iran Sakht” News Headquarter, the language of art has deep influences in all fields. With the outbreak of corona, powerful health advocates came to the front to protect people"s lives. They are accompanied with the activists of the innovation and technology ecosystem to defeat the disease by producing “Iranian” products.

The call for the international caricature competition entitled “We Defeat Coronavirus was made in the first days of the disease’s outbreak. The event invites caricaturists to create art works related to the battle against corona.
according to Masoud Shojaei Tabatabaei, the secretary of the event, artists from 80 countries have sent their work in less than a month. Each person was allowed to send up to five art works; therefore, the deadline of the event was extended. In the past 40 days, more than 4200 art works have been delivered to the secretariat of the event by artists of 88 countries.

What is the goal of the event? the artists" works were categorized into four sections of encouragement, health advocates, health advice and content production in the fight against corona. In each of these sections, caricaturists created valuable works for the public. Corona"s outbreak has led the country to anxiety and worry. So the art of the artists came to the rescue here.

Pointing out the support of the event by the knowledge-based economy and culture-building technologies development headquarter, Shojaei Tabatabaei marked: these works were created in each country according to the culture of each artist, and since these works depicted the theme of the day in society, over time their effectiveness decreases, so some of these works were exhibited from the very first days after judging on the Iran Cartoon site. Currently, more than 2,200 works are on display on this site. These works have had more than two million visitors so far.

The manager of the visual arts center announced the presenting of art works in public places in addition to Iran Cartoon Site, asserting: in addition to cyberspace, these works will be displayed after voting with the Urban and Metro Beautification Organization.
