In the presence of the Vice President of Science and Technology
Unveiling smart and knowledge-based systems to improve the oil and gas industry
During Hossein Afshin's provincial visit to Assaluyeh Port, artificial intelligence-based monitoring and management systems and knowledge-based products were unveiled, which are being produced in the country for the first time.

Hossein Afshin, Vice President of Science, who traveled to the port of Assaluyeh today, unveiled artificial intelligence-based monitoring systems and first-of-its-kind knowledge-based products that are to be used in the South Pars Gas Complex and Nouri Petrochemical Complex.
During this visit, Afshin unveiled the MARK V control system modules. This product is being used in the first, second, and third refinery power plants of the South Pars Gas Complex as the main control system for turbocompressors and turbogenerators, and will also be used in other subsidiary complexes.
Mercury Removal from Refinery Feed
Mercury Absorbent (Mercury Guard) was another product unveiled during the visit. Mercury in refinery feed has adverse environmental effects, corrosion in downstream units, and poisoning of expensive catalysts. By producing this product, while reducing the amount of mercury in the system, more sustainability will be achieved in refinery production; in addition, the domestic version of this absorbent will be produced at a lower cost than the imported version.
Unveiling 2 Knowledge-Based Products and 3 Smart Systems at Noori Petrochemical Complex
The Vice President of Science and Technology, while attending the Noori Petrochemical Complex, unveiled knowledge-based products developed by knowledge-based companies in the fields of catalysts, condition monitoring systems, and environmental adsorbents.
The Benzene Analyzer Soft Sensor (Virtual Sensor) in collaboration with the Petroleum Industry Research Institute, which makes benzene analysis possible without the need for very large analyzers and by relying on artificial intelligence, was another product that was unveiled and put into operation at this event. Optimization of analysis mechanisms, prevention of foreign exchange outflows of two million dollars, and significant reduction in maintenance costs are among the unique features of this intelligent system.
Another product unveiled at the event was the intelligent energy management system, which has reached the production and commercialization stage in collaboration with Sharif University of Technology. The use of artificial intelligence in components affecting energy consumption is one of the features of this platform.
Another product unveiled at Noori Petrochemical is the Asset Control Center Dashboard with the ability to observe and monitor more than 150 indicators in different layers, the ability to observe and monitor the process of each unit, monitor each piece of equipment and monitor more than 100 management indicators.
