The secretary of biotechnology development headquarter emphasized the production of high-quality bio drugs in Iran, stating: in the near future, 33 important biologic drugs will be produced in the country.

According to reports in the country, scientists have a significant share of the portfolio of bio-pharmaceuticals. According to reports, of the $4.5 billion drug market in Iran, the share of knowledge-based companies is 70%.

It is estimated that 97% of the medicines consumed are domestically produced, and 67% of the APIs used to manufacture medicines are domestically produced.

These figures are the result of the efforts of young people and professionals who are concerned about the physical and mental health of the community. The youth who remained committed to making Iran self-sufficient and empowered. These efforts come to fruition when government support is included.

The biotechnology development headquarter supports creative youth and their ideas in knowledge-based companies to facilitate the move of technological train in the country.

We have aimed to produce exporting drugs inside the country. Since the sanctions against Iran, we have considered the production of other drugs in addition to the acceleration of production of bio drugs.

Ghanei also mentioned: in general, there are 140 bio drugs in the country, 22 of which have been produced in the country in the last two years.

According to experts, production of all bio drugs in the country has no economic justification in the current situation and we are forced to import some drugs. However, the players of the field have attempted to meet domestic needs by producing drugs.

In addition, 30 other drugs will be added to the basket of bio drugs of the country in the next two years, which is hopeful for patients. These drugs will be completely produced by domestic youth of the country.

According to Ghanei, production of drugs will increase from 97% to 99%, which needs synergy and cooperation of all players of the field.
