Sattari: The Innovative City Is Established to Create Added Value from Needs
Azadi Innovation Factory hosted Sorena Sattari, the vice president for science and technology affairs, Anoushiravan Mohseni-Bandpei, governor, and Pirooz Hanachi, the mayor of Tehran, to hold the first technology and innovation forum of Tehran.
During the meeting, the vice president for science and technology affairs mentioned that Tehran Innovation Network has been formed to increase synergy among the activists of the technology and innovation ecosystem, adding: with extraordinary capacity in the area of creative ideas, Tehran is a foundation for innovation networks.
Pointing out the capacities of Tehran, Sattari expressed: an innovation city is one with a municipality that acts as a large business accelerator and lays the foundation for maturity and commercialization of innovative ideas. Municipality of Tehran has a large market that can be the foundation for creating opportunities and added value to urban needs through the activities of startup ecosystem.
He emphasized the necessity of presenting urban cities by the private sector integrated with innovation, asserting: the government should lay the foundation for the provision of these services by the private sector to meet the needs and innovations at high quality levels and cost-effectively.
The knowledge-based economy, startups and discourse that had no place in society until a few years ago have today become the lifeblood of the country in overcoming critical hurdles and turning needs into innovative services.
The president of the headquarters for culture knowledge-based economy mentioned that all municipal services are platforms for value-added and employment solutions, adding: the municipality can play a managerial and supervisory role and receive a portion of municipal revenues from this area. There have been resistances in the traditional sector for decades, and traditional views on the battlefield will certainly lose with these innovative ideas.
Sattari talked about the successful example of creating an innovative platform for startups in the field of Fintech, affirming; fintech companies have changed the financial transaction space as startup players. Today, banks are investing on Fintech companies as traditional players.
Pointing out that the technology market is a platform for knowledge-based businesses and startups, Sattari claimed: traditional actors have no chance of winning in the face of creative and innovative ideas unless they change their approach to investing in them.
The vice president for science and technology affairs considered the role of effective organizations such as the municipality and governorate of Tehran in the development of innovative regions in Tehran to be efficient, asserting: if the innovation area and the factory has been formed, it has been with the support of the municipality. If in the east of Tehran, Pardis becomes a city of innovation, it has been due to the support and cooperation of the governorate, and this support will become a model for other sectors in accompanying the discourse of the knowledge-based economy.
Cooperation between Tehran Municipality and Startups Has Been Developed in Various Fields
During the meeting, Pirooz Hanachi, the mayor of Tehran, pointed out the technological development capacities of the capital, stating: more than 30 percent of the country's economic turnover, 25 percent of GDP, 2 percent of the area and 20 percent of the country's population is Tehran's share, and this makes the capital conducive to the development of technology businesses.
In addition, Anoushiravan Mohseni-Bandpei, governor, pointed out the high capacity of the innovation and technology ecosystem of Tehran, asserting: holding this forum in Tehran was a necessity and fortunately, a capacity has been provided for synergy and interaction between technology activists in Tehran province.
In this meeting, innovation ecosystem activists were gathered for the development of scientific and technological cooperation in the technology ecosystem of Tehran to share their views. Innovation and technology activists issued a statement, emphasizing the need for the municipality and the governor to work together to develop the innovation ecosystem and support innovative activists based in innovation areas.
The meeting was held by the efforts of Pardis Technology Park. During the meeting, Sattari, Hanachi and Mohseni-Bandpei visited accelerators, knowledge-based companies, startups and shared workspaces.
