“Medication Sanctions”; a Threat Turned into an Opportunity
The secretary of biotechnology development headquarter believes that medication sanctions have helped Iran stand on its own feet and develop the local medication industry.
The pharmaceutical industry is one of the vital veins of any country. An industry whose development guarantees the well-being and individual, social and psychological well-being of a society. This industry is of particular importance in Iran, which is surrounded by global sanctions. Iran has no choice but to provide self-reliance and indigenous medicines to the people it needs. As Mostafa Ghanei demonstrated: the threat of sanctions has provided the best opportunity for a boom in drug production in the country.
The biotechnology development headquarter has been able to decrease the impact of sanctions in the country by developing biotechnology in drug industry.
The secretary of biotechnology development headquarter continued: drug is one of the strategic areas in the country. An industry whose development is tied to biotechnology. That is why we strive to achieve pharmaceutical self-sufficiency by developing the biotech industry.
Mentioning that biotechnology is a value-creating industry, Ghanei emphasized the all-around development of this industry, stating: the biotechnology development headquarter has aimed to develop this technology in all industries.
"The boom in different areas of algae, bio-farming, biofuels and marine biotechnology are areas whose development has a direct relationship with biotechnology."
The secretary of biotechnology development added: if our goal is economic prosperity, we must strive to develop biotechnology in line with the world and national needs.
