The manager of strategic technologies laboratory network pointed out the necessity of needs assessment for purchase of laboratory equipment in the country, stating: one of the goals of the network is to focus on purchasing laboratory equipment based on national needs.

According to the public relations and information center of the Vice-Presidency for science and technology affairs, Reza Asadifard, the manager of strategic technologies laboratory network, mentioned that the network seeks to eliminate parallel work in purchase of laboratory equipment, expressing: it has been common in the country for years to buy laboratory equipment without proper metrics. However, the network has been formed to reduce these unnecessary parallel works and purchases.

He added: the network seeks to address deficiencies in this area by focusing on laboratory purchases, based on national, regional and local needs assessments.

According to Asadifard, sometimes, due to lack of knowledge, a laboratory device was purchased at a high price in the country, while the same device existed in the country and has been useless due to a small defect for several years. However, these shortcomings have been resolved with the formation of the network and the database of equipment available in the country has been created.

He added: membership in the network helps increase the ability of active human resources in member laboratories, acquiring valid laboratory standards, and purchasing new equipment in the form of network’s regulations.

The secretary of strategic technologies laboratory network also declared: establishing the necessary platforms for making services available through the strategic technologies laboratory of Iran is one of the priorities of the network.
