About service
Held by the efforts of the innovation and commercialization headquarter of the Vice-Presidency for science and technology affairs in line with the macro policies to promote the economy of resistance, the Made in Iran laboratory equipment and materials exhibition has been able to significantly contribute to the supply and selling of advanced and knowledge-based laboratory equipment and materials in the country. The importance of the exhibition increases when it is considered a successful example of political tools in the commercialization field. This domestic model has been modified by experience of several rounds of holding and can be used in other technological fields today. According to the program for development of production of knowledge-based products (Article 43 of the law on the elimination of barriers to competitive production and improvement of financing system of the country approved in 2015), the model will be extended to other fields through a national virtual system and holding the exhibitions on a yearly basis. In the past, policies of science or technology pressure, which were based on linear models of innovation, were the basis of most innovation policies. However, experiences of different countries of the world have shown that these models, which are more focused on the supply of innovation, have low productivity in practice. Today, policy makers focus on demand-side policies that focus more on the innovation cycle and the link between supply and demand for innovation. Research has shown that these policies can have higher productivity than research and development subsidy policies, and firms are investing more in innovation when they see a reliable market for their products. According to the literature, these policies can have higher productivity than research and development subsidy-allocating policies, and firms invest more in innovation when they see a reliable market for their products. In a country such as Iran, where most of the economy is handled by the government, the government can have a significant impact on market demand and, help promoting innovation in the market as a pioneering user. Therefore, government procurement is one of the most important political tools to stimulate the demand side of innovation. Domestic producers and users of laboratory equipment and materials attend in Made in Iran laboratory equipment and materials exhibition. In addition, public sector buyers can benefit from subsidies provided by the Vice-Presidency for science and technology affairs for the purchase of equipment and materials, and private consumers and buyers can use leasing facilities. The major goal of the exhibition is motivating the domestic purchase demand for universities, which are a unique market for advanced laboratory products and equipment in the country. The Made in Iran laboratory materials and equipment has been held for five rounds since 2013 and has sold more than 380 million Tomans. The sixth round of the event was held December 24th-25th, 2018 attended by 350 companies and exhibiting 9000 products. A part of the purchase costs of government research and technology centers is paid by the Vice-Presidency for science and technology affairs depending on the level of products. In addition, leasing facilities are provided to non-government buyers.
