Outstanding features of the work: evident innovation in the scientific method, as well as the progressiveness and sustainability of the work are the most important features considered by referees. In addition, the work must have clear applications or its results must have a tangible effect on the world of science. Participants must provide sufficient evidence to prove these features. Influence range: the evaluated work must have the ability to expand the knowledge borders of the world and exert a considerable scientific impact at the regional or global level. In addition, the work must be published in valid scientific media as a scientific theory or have the ability to be turned into economic and wealth creation plans. Moreover, the scientific work must have a significant impact on culture, society, health, environment, and general well-being, and must play a role in responding to scientific needs or solving social problems. Characteristics of the work owner: the owner(s) of the scientific work that is nominated for the Mustafa Prize must be well-known in their specialized field and must have an outstanding scientific background, which is estimated based on the number of articles and works published in valid scientific journals or innovations and inventions registered. In addition, their role in the development of new technologies is assessed in this context. Having a holistic view and scientific and innovative spirit are among the other characteristics of nominates of the Mustafa Prize.

The works delivered to the secretary of the Mustafa Prize are evaluated in two stages. In the first stage, the preliminary arbitration commissions assess the qualifications of the works in terms of general characteristics and send the qualified works to the next stage of arbitration. According to the regulations of the program, works that have formerly won at least one valid scientific prize at the global level will be excluded. In addition, works presented personally regardless of the accurate path of nomination will not be accepted at this stage. In the final stage, a group of seven top international researchers and scientists will evaluate the final works and select the top work in each area of the prize.
