The secretary of knowledge-based economy and culture-building technologies development headquarter announced a two-step growth in the ranking of Iran and receiving the rank of 47 of the most innovative countries of the world according to the Bloomberg Innovation Index 2019 Report.
According to the public relations and information center of the Vice-Presidency for science and technology affairs, Parviz Karami, advisor to the vice president for science and technology affairs, pointed out the two-step growth in the ranking of Iran and receiving the rank of 47 of the most innovative countries of the world, stating: in terms of technology development, Iran"s position has experienced tremendous growth over the past seven years, in a way that we are among the best in the world. The Bloomberg Innovation Index confirms this claim.
Iran among the Innovative Economies of the World
Karami expressed: in its seventh year, the Bloomberg Innovation Index ranked the world"s most innovative economies in 2019, according to which Iran climbed to 47th rank of the most innovative economies in the world with a 2-step increase from last year. This ranking has been done with a total of 52.81 points in Iran, placing Iran at a higher position than countries such as Argentina, India, Qatar, Saudi Arabia, Mexico, Cyprus and Serbia.
Seven Indicators Considered in the Ranking and Selection of Best Innovators
Advisor to the president of the knowledge-based economy and culture-building technologies development headquarter affirmed: in the ranking of the most innovative countries in the world, Bloomberg offers each country a score of 0-100 according to these indicators: "the intensity of research and development”, "value added from the production sector", "productivity", “the intensity of the use of advanced technologies", “the efficiency of higher education", “the focus of researchers”, and “activities related to patent registration and rights".
Secretary of knowledge-based economy and culture-building technologies development headquarter pointed out the score of Iran in each of the mentioned indicators, declaring: the rank of Iran in the mentioned indexes was 60, 48, 48, 40, 23, 53, and 13, respectively.
The United States is Seven Steps Lower than Iran in the High Education Performance Index
Advisor to the president of the national elites foundation pointed out: South Korea, which was ranked first in the Bloomberg index for the last six consecutive years, is ranked 20th in the patent category, which is seven steps lower than Iran. In addition, the United States, which earned the world"s 5th overall ranking, ranked 43th in the ranking of the performance of higher education, which is 20 steps below Iran.
Karami explained about the success of Iran among the 1-10-ranked countries of the world, conveying: this year, South Korea was ranked first with the score of 87.38, followed by Germany, Finland, Switzerland, the occupying Zionist Regime, Singapore, Sweden, the United States, Japan and France, respectively.
Advisor to the vice president for science and technology affairs also affirmed: among the countries of the world, the first rank of each index is that the value added index for Ireland"s production, Ireland"s productivity, advanced technology in the United States, research and development related to the occupying Zionist Regime, the efficiency of higher education in Singapore, the focus of the research on Denmark and patent-related activities in the United States.
In this index, Germany"s largest economy stands in the second place in the world"s most innovative countries. In the Bloomberg Index, Germany has added value in terms of advanced technology and research intensity, many of which focus on industrial giants like Volkswagen, Bosch, and Daimler, which is superior to South Korea.
Among the countries that recently participated in the Bloomberg ranking, there are emerging economies such as India, Mexico, Vietnam and Saudi Arabia.
