According to the public relations and information center of the Vice-Presidency for science and technology affairs, Mostafa Ghanei, secretary of biotechnology development headquarter, stated on the ceremony for singing a memorandum of understanding for development of veterinary biotechnology: today, we can increase bio methods to growth livestock with the use of biotechnology knowledge, which will lead to the flourishing of this area.

Ghanei continued: according to this agreement, production of livestock, poultry and aquaculture vaccines will be supported by the Vice-Presidency for science and technology affairs. Given the importance of this issue, serious follow-ups will be made to implement the sections of the agreement.

During the meeting, Alireza Rafieipour, head of the Iran Veterinary Organization, affirmed: we have aimed to use biotechnology in the area of economy of resistance to reduce our dependency on oil industry.

The most important goals determined in this memorandum of understanding include the development of abilities of the Iran Veterinary Organization for assessment of animal biotech products, poultry, aquaculture, bee, and silkworm, and animal veterinary-related products, support of development of veterinary biotechnology in the country, and increasing the knowledge of specialized and non-specialized society about the potentials and applications of biotechnology in various areas of veterinary.

Areas of cooperation determined in the agreement are “evaluation, introduction and sharing the latest global findings to be used by experts of organizations and the public”, “designing and implementing specialized educational programs”, “supporting the creation and development of biotechnology in veterinary, cooperation to provide the necessary infrastructures of biotechnology in the area of livestock, aquatic animals, poultry, bees, and silkworm and veterinary products”, and “assessment of technical and operative solutions for controlling and reducing wastes created due to biotechnology processes in veterinary”.

Other areas of cooperation are “recognition and support of joint projects to use biotechnology in growing livestock, poultry, aquatic animals, bees and silkworm and veterinary products”, “support of biotechnology projects of private companies, support of holding specialized exhibitions and conferences and cooperation in middle programs” and “directing the final theses of universities and research centers of the country to respond to needs in the area of veterinary biotechnology”.
