The water, drought, erosion, and environment technologies development headquarter will cooperate with German researchers.

 

The water, drought, erosion, and environment technologies development headquarter will cooperate with German researchers in line with the project of seasonal water forecasts and related parameters.

According to the public relations and information center of the Vice-Presidency for science and technology affairs, the water, drought, erosion, and environment technologies development headquarter held a meeting with German researchers to decide about the type of cooperation of the headquarter with SaWaM project.

In this meeting, the objectives and vision of the project were first explained by German experts, and scientific capacities of the Iranian experts and projects implemented to revive the Urmia Lake were evaluated. The seasonal water forecasts and related parameters is approved by the ministry of education and research of Germany with financial code of WGR142102.

The main objective of the SaWaM project is development of technology and software to transfer the measured global data and logistics to manage water reserves, anticipate, help the decision making for drought, lack of water, agricultural products, natural resources and conflict with seasonal fluctuations.

If agreed by both parties, the model function will be evaluated in semi-arid regions, such as the Urmia Lake.

In this meeting, Foroud Sharifi, deputy secretary of the water, drought, erosion, and environment technologies development headquarter, explained about the goals of the meeting, followed by explaining technical and financial issues of the project and susceptible places to implement the project in the Urmia Lack by German experts.

Iranian experts presented four issues related to various aspects of cooperation, current condition of the Urmia Lake and the susceptible places in this region.

In this meeting, both parties agreed that the details of cooperation, methods and obligations to develop technology and financial aspects be assessed in future meetings.
