According to the vice president for science and technology affairs, actual development occurs from the heart of a province. Knowledge-based companies and startups are a great opportunity for turning local capacities of the province into occupation, added value, and sustainable development.

According to the public relations and information center of the Vice-Presidency for science and technology affairs, Sorena Sattari, the vice president for science and technology affairs, met with technologists in the science and technology park of Hormozgan Province during his travel to this region of the country.

Sattari explained about the necessity of ecosystem and importance of expanding the foundation for activities of creative youth in startups and knowledge-based companies.

According to Sattari, there is a need for a suitable ecosystem in order to make knowledge and innovation economical. He also pointed out the attempts made to create such an ecosystem in Hormozgan and other provinces of Iran. Fortunately, the culture of innovation and entrepreneurship has improved and reached other cities.

Importance of Ecosystem

According to the Vice-Presidency for science and technology affairs, loans and direct financial support are not always a good approach to support startups and knowledge-based companies. Most of such businesses can attract the investment of the private sector and venture capitals.

The president of the knowledge-based economy and culture-building technologies development headquarter reminded the importance of passing from resource-oriented economy toward the economy based on ecosystem and culture, adding: investment of the government causes the formation of an improper culture. The result of this government intervention is the formation of industries that despite their large size, have unfavorable efficiency for the society.

Sattari regarded this to be the result of inaccurate culture of dependence on oil revenues and emphasized that the seedling of development must grow based on local features.

The vice president for science and technology affairs expressed that startups and knowledge-based companies are at the front of the field of knowledge-based economy. Research funds of the province are an intermediate ring to financially support these businesses.

Sattari also talked about the infrastructural support of the Vice-Presidency with the aim of making the space suitable for creative and innovative youth, asserting: facilities and support provided by the Vice-Presidency are in line with flourishing of the ecosystem of entrepreneurship. The various types of support are informed, a part of which are facilities outside the framework of the Vice-Presidency, and have caused good changes in support provided by foundations.

In this meeting, the technology units of the park explained about their abilities and shared their concerns, needs and problems in the financial, infrastructural and legal areas with Sattari.
