The Platforms of National Satellites Will Be Defined in the Country

The national space and advanced transportation administration has aimed to develop three platforms for national satellites in order to develop low-orbit operational satellites.

According to the public relations and information center of the Vice-Presidency for science and technology affairs, the news on sending an Iranian satellite to space shocked everyone during the 2000s. Before that, Iran was unknown in the field of space and had no acceptable achievements. The growth of Iran in the field of sending satellites to space occurred when only eight countries had entered this field, all of which had a great scientific background.

The national space and advanced transportation administration has decided to establish three platforms for national satellites by creating a consortium of universities of active in the space field and with the help of the knowledge-based companies. In this regard, we can refer to Iran Bass 15 project, which involved a 15-kg satellite platform with imaging load (five meter resolution), which is being performed by the consortium of Sharif and Malek Ashtar universities. In this project, conceptual and primary design has been carried out and we have entered the detailed design step.

Another project was “Iran Bass 70”, which is being carried out with a 70-kg platform with imaging load (five meter resolution) by the consortium of Sharif, Amir Kabir, and K. N. Toosi University of Technology.

In addition, “Iran Bass 150” project with a 150-kg platform with imaging load (one-two meter resolution) is being performed by Iran University of Science and Technology. In this project, more than 250 aerospace specialists are active.
