The Joint Treatise of the United Nations and the Mustafa Organization Is Unveiled
According to the public relations and information center of the Vice-Presidency for science and technology affairs, the ceremony for unveiling the joint treatise of the united nations and the Mustafa Foundation was held with the title of “south-south in practice; peace and welfare from the path of science and technology development” in the presence of George Chedik, representative of the general secretary of the united nations, Ali Morteza Birang, deputy minister for international affairs and head of the center for international interactions in science and technology, Majid Bizmark, CEO of international multilateral cooperation of the ministry of foreign affairs, and representatives of specialized organizations of Turkey and Mexico.
In the beginning of the meeting, Mahdi Safarinia, manager of the Mustafa Science and Technology Foundation, stated: the Mustafa Science and Technology Foundation has been established with the vision of development of peace and welfare and mission of developing science and technology in the Islamic world, realization of which requires the recognition and honoring of top scientists, which will lay the foundation for development of interactions among researchers and increase of synergy of Islamic countries as a considerable part of the south geography in the fields of science and technology with an emphasis on advanced technologies.
The manager of the Mustafa Foundation continued: considering its mission, the foundation has aimed to plan the use of science and technology at levels of school and university students, professors, and faculty members of universities in the form of holding Nour Student Competitions, KANZ scientific competition and science and technology exchange program (STEP) in the Islamic countries.
Safarinia added: the activities of this foundation are in line with the development of Islamic countries as the most important part of developing countries with a number of managerial goals for south-south cooperation of the united nations, that can be affected by the realization of goals and missions of the foundation.
He also explained about south-south cooperation in the form of a general framework for cooperation of south countries in political, economic, social, cultural, environmental and technical fields, asserting: the Mustafa Foundation has provided the ability to increase the level of use of the audience society by relying on the created network owing to the vast international communications in the field of science and technology.
During the meeting, George Chedik, representative of the united nations, pointed out: office of south-south cooperation was established in 1950 with the goal of cooperation with various countries in the area of science development. In the past years, this cooperation has led to a 50% role of the south-south region in the global economy of the world.
He continued: the United Nations has expressed its content with the cooperation in establishment of the treatise of “south-south in practice; peace and welfare from the path of science and technology development” and appreciates the support of sciences by the Mustafa Foundation.
The Mustafa Prize, the high sign of science and technology in the Islamic world, is given to the top researcher and scientists of the Islamic world every two years. The Mustafa Prize recognizes, introduces and awards the top science and technology works in the Islamic world, promoting science learning and research in Islamic societies. According to the executive document of the Mustafa Prize, Sorena Sattari (the vice president for science and technology affairs) and Mahdi Safarinia (president of the Pardis Technology Park) are the head and secretary of policy-making council, respectively.
