Along with the travel of the vice president for science and technology affairs to Ilam and on the eve of the 40th anniversary of the victory of the Islamic Revolution, some technological units with the ability to develop the ecosystem of innovation and entrepreneurship are inaugurated in Ilam.

According to the public relations and information center of the Vice-Presidency for science and technology affairs, this morning and Along with the travel of Sorena Sattari, the vice president for science and technology affairs, to Ilam, the pharmaceutical plant research center of University of Ilam was opened with the goal of completing the cycle of idea to wealth and exploiting the domestic capacity of this province in optimal production of knowledge-based pharmaceutical plant. This ceremony was attended by the governor, head of the science and technology park, head of University of Ilam, and some of the provincial authorities.

Ilam University has moved the university to complete the cycle of science to wealth production in three distinct phases, where the establishment of this institute with the use of Iranian laboratory equipment is the first step.

Paving the Way for Financial Support of Technological Projects of the Province

In addition, the research and technology fund of the science and technology park of the province was opened in the presence of the vice president for science and technology affairs, governor, head of the science and technology park, head of University of Ilam, and some of the provincial authorities, aiming at supporting the innovative and knowledge-based projects with the support of the Vice-Presidency.

In addition, Sattari visited the innovation center and technological units based in the park and talked with the technologists and startup owners in this center.

Visiting the growth center of technological units of Islamic Azad Units and paying tribute to the anonymous martyrs buried in the tomb of martyrs of this university were other programs of the vice president for science and technology affairs in this travel.

The vice president for science and technology affairs was present in a gathering of journalists and answered their questions.

The vice president for science and technology affairs pointed out that establishment of the biotechnology and agriculture centers has led to taking new steps, adding: universities must take this issue seriously. However, we must know that what turns research in this area into businesses and problem-solving is creating a business environment.

Sattari stated: the biotechnology companies of Iran have been turned into the technology pole of the region, and produce 97% of the pharmaceutical needs of the country, the major part of which is biotech.

The president for science and technology affairs affirmed: the science and technology park"s performance is good in terms of innovation and startup ideas, but the trend of growth and commercialization of ideas must be accelerated.

The president of the knowledge-based economy and culture-building technologies development headquarter pointed out the growth of position of Iran in the innovation index, asserting: Iran is among the top science-producing countries of the world. In addition, we are first in the region and the Islamic world in terms of innovation and production.

Regarding the growth of educated human capitals compared to the first years after the Islamic revolution of Iran, declaring: at the beginning of the Islamic Revolution, 270,000 Iranian students were studying before the revolution, 100,000 of whom were studying in universities outside Iran. Currently, Iran has four million and seven hundred thousand students, with only 170,000 studying abroad. This shows the multi-dimensional growth of the young and educated manpower of Iran.

According to Sattari, creating a suitable business environment leads to turning ideas into wealth and paving the way for attraction and maintaining the elites in the country. In this respect, he marked: we have a detailed program for the return of the elites, which is a key element of this program in the form of creating an ecosystem of entrepreneurship and innovation. A significant portion of the elite returning to Iran can create their knowledge-based businesses and startups.

Sattari continued: to date, 60 accelerators have been supported and these supports will increase with no doubt. In order to support the accelerators, grants and loans are provided to realize the growth of ideas of creative and educated youth.
